So I’ve finished up the videos for the Microsoft Canada Innovative Teachers Conference. They took a little longer than expected to do, but they are now up and running. This week had a couple of late nights for me to finish these up. I was encoding them into flash and it took about 30 minutes for each one to encode since I was doing them at a high quality. And then if I saw a problem with one (which I did a couple of times) I had to go back and re-do it; so that ate up some time. It’s important to have it done right though, even if I am up until 2AM making sure that they are encoding properly :)

The main tool I use for Flash encoding is Sorenson Squeeze, it’s especially great for batch encoding into multiple formats. I also use On2 FlixPro on occasion, though it is solely for Flash video and not the other formats that Sorenson can encode to. The idea is to use the right tool for the job, and sometimes it’s Sorenson Squeeze, sometimes it’s On2 Flix Pro.

So, another project in the can! Even when I say that though they are rarely in the can. Now I’ll make a DVD with all of them for the client and for myself, master them to tape and archive the project file and media; so even when a project is finished it’s not really finished.

You can see all of the videos on the Conferences youtube channel, and here are a couple of them for your enjoyment. Some are shot in front of a green screen, some aren’t; can you tell which ones?
